The Art

Mindfulness and meditation classes are rooted in scientific knowledge while honoring the traditions of these ancient practices. At Soul Growth, the confluence of Eastern practices and Western science will benefit your physical and emotional well-being. 

Simply put, meditation is the art and practice of becoming familiar with the patterns and habits of your mind. It invites an internal shift from doing to being; of coming into stillness and ease by learning to quiet our minds and let go of our thoughts and stories.  Meditation is a way of relating to life with greater presence, deeper connection, and more gentle compassion.  It is a path we can journey on and refine throughout our lives.

the science

Meditation is a way to use our minds to improve our brains.  Because our brains learn based on what we attend to, we can use these practices to cultivate greater well-being and inner peace. It is increasingly recognized for its physical and mental health benefits and is an effective form of stress reduction. Meditation and mindfulness practices calm our over active fight/flight responses so that we are able to respond to situations, rather than react.  In addition to physiological, biochemical, and neurological changes, meditation can increase relaxation, strengthen concentration, and improve emotional regulation.

Individual and Group Mindfulness Training are available through drop in community classes and upon request. Suggested donation is $7 per class, however, you are welcome to contribute at a rate that feels comfortable to you.
